How to Clean and Digitize a VHS

Video recorded in 4K In 2025, I had a few people ask me to digitize their older home movies. I decided to film a instructional video on how to do that. After a while, the video tape and the actual film can gather dust, dirt and mold. I demonstrate how to both clean and digitize the old VHSs. This process is relatively the same for Compact VHSs (VHS-C), Hight-Brand Video 8s (Hi8), and 8mm cassette tapes. The only difference is that for Hi8s and 8mm, you need a Sony Handycam Camcorder for video playback, instead of a VCR. Also, for a VHS-C, a VHS to VHS-C Cassette adapter is needed for playback. (However, due to the older technology, the physical film can begin to degrade and shrivel after approximately 20 years, causing the audio and picture quality to decline.) *Background music provided by audiojungle.net with paid license.*

The basketball camp was through A Jah Davis Foundation, "nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children and young adults in the DeKalb community. On 10/12/2019, I filmed my friends' Will and Kristin's wedding ceremony and reception. A few weeks before that, I did what I like to call a "Couples Interview" with them. I edited the whole thing together into a semi-highlight wedding video. I wanted to make sure the happy couple like it first before I posted, and yes, they do! So now, here it is Kristin and Will Grimes' wedding video!
